Decorative Feature: Adds charm and character turning much loved kitchenware items into a personalised display

Drying Solution: Can function as a countertop or wall-hung dish rack, creating a dedicated washing-up zone near the sink

Versatile Storage: Doubles up as a plate shelf, and can hold plates of any size, cups, saucers, as well as all types of kitchenware items

Our kitchen plate racks can be used to display decorative plates, store everyday dishes vertically for easy access, and free up cabinet space, functioning as both a storage rack and a decretive display area for all manner of items. They can also be positioned close to or directly above a kitchen sink area and used to dry and store dishes as the washing up is being done.

Our signature plate racks and shelves are available as a wall mounted or countertop unit and there are in cupboard options available also.

Our signature racks can be made to any width and there are 9 standard options available when placing your order. We can also tailor the width for a more precise, bespoke fit, if for example, you need to fill a particular space on the kitchen wall or would like to fit one between two existing kitchen cupboards.

Plates

Our plate racks can hold a number of plates, bowels, cups, saucers and other kitchenware items. Their unique design means that they double up as a shelf, meaning that they are not limited to just plates. The number of plates they can hold of course depends on the width:

40cm holds 12 small / 14 large plates
50cm holds 15 small / 17 large plates
60cm holds 18 small / 20 large plates
70cm holds 21 small / 23 large plates
80cm holds 24 small / 26 large plates
90cm holds 27 small / 30 large plates
100cm holds 30 small / 32 large plates
110cm holds 33 small / 35 large plates
120cm holds 36 small / 38 large plates

Due to the unique design of our plate racks, the dowels hold the plates secure in a vertical position, keeping them separate from each other and protecting them from damage. The plates are held upright by the dowels at the back, and the plates can not fall further through the frame because the sides hold them in place. This allows plates of all shapes and sizes to be held vertically. Items such as deep bowels, which cannot be stored horizontally can be stacked upright meaning that there is no limit to what the plate rack can be used for.

Our plate racks can hold plates of up to 20cm in diameter (top shelf) and up to 30cm in diameter (bottom shelf). These are held in place with 12mm integrated dowels, spaced 1.5cm apart.

The dowels in our plate racks are spaced 1.5cm apart, meaning that most rimmed plates and bowls will fit nicely and securely. Other items can be placed horizontally, meaning that our plate racks can be used to store a wide range of kitchenware items.

If for any reason our plate shelf does not work for you, then it can be returned to us within 60 days of receipt for a full refund. Simply let us know and we will send over a pre-paid returns label in accordance with our returns policy. This makes shopping with us totally risk-free.

Wood

Our plate racks are made from specially selected European beech which comes from forests which are sustainably managed. Beech is fast growing and has a very hard and straight-grain which means there is very little wastage. It is naturally non-porous so does not need any harsh chemicals to render it useful.

All our plate racks are made from 100% sustainable European beech. We are looking to introduce an oak version of our most popular plate racks in the future.

All our plate storage racks and shelves are supplied in a natural, untreated and unstained finish, giving them a natural beechwood look and feel. It is possible to treat or stain then however we do not believe that this is necessary, unless the rack is to be used as a disk draining rack in which case adding a waterproof seal would extend the life of the product. If you are planning to treat or stain the surface of your new plate rack, we would recommend trying a small patch on the back first, to make sure your happy with this. In short our plate racks and shelves are supplied in beautiful natural wood finish and ready to be used, but if you do feel that yours would benefit from a varnish or stain, then yes this is possible to do.

Our signature plate racks can be used as a dish draining rack. Located above or next to a sink, they make a great addition to your washing up area allowing plates to be stored away directly after use. However excess moisture may cause the wood within the rack to fade or stain over time. To extend the life of the plate rack, we recommend wiping the plates with a towel before placing them, and using a varnish to protect the wood from excess moisture, available from all good hardware stores. This should be re applied over time to continue to protect the surface of the wood.

Installation

Our plate racks are made using integrated 12mm beech wood dowels, securely attached into the frame via a snug and integral fit. These are so plentiful in number, that the result is a sold plate shelf which is not compromised in strength, creating a well-constructed piece which will last a lifetime.

Our wall mounted, countertop and in cabinet versions are all rated to hold a distributed weight of up to 30kg and whereas our free standing and in cabinet versions will hold much more, we need to set this low, to consider the numerous ways our plate shelves and storage racks will be used.

With our wall mounted version, we are mindful that the unit needs to be securely attached to the wall. We supply four fixing points within each unit, which, using high quality screws and the correct raw plugs for the material they are being screwed into, will easily hold the weight of the unit and anything placed on this. However as above, we do not recommend exceeding 30kg.

Our plate storage racks and shelves are manufactured and assembled by ourselves and are supplied as a single, ready to use unit. Whether it is our wall mounted, countertop or in cabinet version, there is no assembly required. From the moment your plate rack comes out of the box it is good to go.

The wall mounted versions of our signature plate racks attaches to the wall using screws and raw plugs, securing directly into a brick wall or stud via predrilled holes in the frame. If you require the pre drilled holes locating a specific distance apart, so that they may line up with the studs in a stud wall. please contact us after placing your order and we can arrange this for you.

In all cases, if you are unsure if your wall will take the weight, please contact a professional tradesperson who can advise you further.

Our plate racks are made from natural beech wood which is a high-density wood, chosen for its water resistant and hardwearing properties, protecting against unwanted scratches and stains. Should your plate rack require cleaning, then we would recommend giving it a wipe-over  using a cloth and some warm soapy water.
